CONGRATULATIONS!

In particular we salute the race winners, each of whom blew away last year’s winning time:

Brian Krogmann and Jennifer Vogel in the “100”, Joe Ninke and Erin Churchill in the “50” and the “Keys Athletes” relay team in the 100-mile relay race. Our hats are off to all of you on your amazing accomplishment. Please check the race website (www.keys100.com), “2009 Race Results”, for all the details, times and winners.

THANKS!

Thank you to all the runners, support crew and volunteers who made the 2009 KEYS100 a memorable experience for all. I’d like to especially “shout out” to MM75 check-in site manager Kristen Burnie, MM50 manager, Cory Walters, MM25 manager, Tim O’Brien and Finish line manager, Cris Vidal. Kudos to Don Nelson and Dennis Gormley of the Key West Southernmost Runners. Thanks to Ann Fox, Richard Mancuso, Eli Papatestas, Bill Wenner, Bob Gentile, Mark Ehrenshaft, Kevin Tolefree and so many others for stepping-up race weekend and lending a hand. And to Ryan Ravinsky, who completed the “100” and assisted so many runners in finding crew in advance of the race, heartiest congratulations! Finally, to American Ambulance for arranging to have three of their medics supporting our people all race weekend, we can’t thank you enough for being out there and fixing our fallen!

RACE PHOTOS, BLOGS & RACE REPORTS

Links or direct content for all these things is in the process of being loaded to the race website, www.keys100.com Anyone who has photos of the race or has written a blog or report and would like to share, please send to me asap and we will post appropriately. Keep checking back over the next couple of weeks for additional content.

PRESS

The “Press” page on the race website includes links to the many press reports about this year’s race from around the country. If you are aware of press coverage not listed there, please let me know about it and we will add the reference. And, if you have any newspaper clippings or news recordings about the race, please send me a copy for the race record. Thank you.

RACE MEDALS

To those finishers who did not receive a medal after crossing the finish line, additional medals are being ordered. These will take time to arrive. Once here, they will be mailed to the address you have provided. If you prefer a different address, please send an email and let me know. If you have any question about being on that delayed medal recipient list, please send me a note.

TEE SHIRT SALE

Many of you have asked about purchasing 2009 KEYS100 tee shirts. Additional long sleeve and short sleeve shirts will be ordered, but only in quantities that will fill your requests. If you are interested in buying shirts, please let me know size, sleeve length and quantity, and confirm your shipping address. You will be sent a bill with your order. This is being done as an accommodation as we are not in the tee shirt business! Please return a check (only) upon receipt of your shirt(s). IF YOU WISH TO ORDER SHIRTS, SEND AN E-MAIL WITH YOUR ORDER IMMEDIATELY. THE ONE-TIME MANUFACTURING ORDER WILL BE PLACED ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3rd. “Racer” shirts for those who did not receive them at check-in will be ordered at the same time, and we have that list. Please allow about a month for delivery.

CASH TO CREW

A small number of you were promised a cash allowance for your willingness to help crew for an out-of-town runner at the last minute. My list of your names is not in good shape! Please let me know if you were promised this allowance and it will be addressed as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

LOST & FOUND

A specialty runner’s watch was found at the race finish line. If you lost your watch, send an email stating brand, model and color of the watch. If there’s a match we will return it to you promptly.

SUGGESTIONS FOR NEXT YEAR’S KEYS100

A number of you have suggested ways to improve the race next year, and these recommendations are welcome. We will take all of them into consideration, adopting those that “fit”. For example, signage at all road crossing points was an excellent idea, and we will follow-up with FDOT to see how this might be implemented. Please forward your thoughts to me about ways to make the race more fun and more safe. Thanks.

AWARDS

In spite of statements to the contrary, we will be shipping awards to winners who were unable to collect them before leaving Key West last week. We were unprepared at the finish line to announce age range winners on the spot, and that prevented some of you from receiving your awards there. But, please be patient. We are not in possession of these unclaimed items at this time. Once received, your awards will be shipped to the address we have on record.

2010 KEYS100

Next year’s race dates have not yet been finalized. We will let you know when that has been done. But, please pencil-in either the weekend of the 15th and 16th, or 22nd and 23rd of May as the likely dates for the 3rd annual race.
